DACs for multiple optical networking and automation applications

Mouser now offers the SoftSpan LTC2688 DAC from Analog Devices. The device provides engineers with advanced capabilities, efficiency and programmability for a variety of automation, optical networking and telecommunications applications.

The device is a 16-bit, 16-channel DAC with built-in precision reference to improve the precision of the outputs. The DAC offers independently programmable channels, with five output ranges from 0V to ± 15V. Providing monotonic stability, the device includes integrated rail-to-rail output buffers that generate or sink up to ± 20mA.

It also provides an external reference for other range options and an analog multiplexer to simplify the measurement of pin voltages, load currents and junction temperature. The SPI and MICROWIRE compatible three-wire serial interface operates at logic levels as low as 1.71 V and clock rates up to 50 MHz.

The device is supported by the DC2873A-B evaluation board, also available from Mouser. The board is a complete evaluation board that, when paired with the required DC2026C demo board, allows designers to use ACE software from Analog Devices to configure and control the integrated LTC2688 DAC.
