Morocco: Oujda – Eight people arrested for alleged links with a criminal counterfeiting network

Rabat — The judicial police of Oujda arrested, on Thursday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), eight individuals, aged 20 to 43, for their alleged links with a criminal network active in the counterfeiting of official documents necessary for visa applications for several foreign countries.

The suspects, including two members of a banned religious group, are allegedly involved in the falsification of official documents necessary to obtain visas for European countries, the national police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that these documents are used by criminal networks to organize illegal immigration operations.

The security operations carried out in several districts of Oujda led to the seizure of 595 false stamps from public institutions, private companies and banks, in addition to five cars.

Computer media, passports, false administrative and banking documents, as well as a sum of money suspected of being the loot of this criminal activity were also seized as part of these operations, we continue.

The eight suspects were placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation, carried out under the control of the prosecution, to identify all the criminal acts attributed to the defendants and arrest all the persons who contributed or participated in these criminal acts, indicates the press release concluded.
