Packers in advanced COVID protocols after Barry tests positive

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (WBAY) – The Green Bay Packers could be without their defensive coordinator on Thursday when they face the undefeated Arizona Cardinals. Joe Barry has tested positive for COVID-19.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday the team was on advanced COVID-19 protocols with the possibility that other staff were positive.

All Monday coaching meetings are virtual.

However, LaFleur remains hopeful Barry could join the team on Thursday. LaFleur says Barry is vaccinated against COVID-19 and needs two negative tests.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo was the first to break the news Monday morning.

The Packers are 6-1 after beating the Washington football team on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The Packers’ defense won in the red zone. The team recorded four sacks.

“I think our defense is playing with a lot of confidence,” said coach Matt LaFleur. “They also faced a lot of adversity, just in terms of losing a lot of key players.”
