ProTek Devices Introduces TVS Series of Components for Industrial Application Circuit Protection – EEJournal

The new TVS components are ideal for protection against high voltage spikes in relay and EMF drives with starting and stopping of motors, against lightning in AC/DC systems

TEMPE, Arizona – March 15, 2022 – ProTek Devices has introduced a series of high power surface mount transient voltage suppression components that provide circuit protection in many industrial applications. These applications include relay controls, motor start and stop EMF protection, module lightning protection, and secondary lightning protection in AC/DC applications.

The SM30KWexxA/CA series consists of numerous TVS components with safe voltage ratings ranging from 16.0 to 78.0 volts. Parts are RTCA DO-160G compliant. They also feature waveforms (pin injection) three and four – level five; and waveform 5A – level four. Other features include low clamping voltage and peak pulse power of 30 kilowatts per line (typical = 10/1000 microseconds).

Additionally, they offer engineers the option of unidirectional and bidirectional configurations and easy mounting on printed circuit boards. The parts are all RoHS and REACH compliant.

Mechanical details and availability information

ProTek Devices SM30KWexxA/CA Series TVS components have an approximate weight of only 1.2 grams. The component comes in a molded surface mount box. Other mechanical and packaging specifications include operating and storage temperatures of -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. The packaging is 100% lead-free tinned. The components operate with a solder reflow temperature of 260 degrees Celsius, 10 seconds. Finally, the series has a UL 94V-0 flammability rating.

TVS components are available on 24mm tape and reel, conforming to EIA 481, in minimum quantities of 1,000. Pricing information and purchase details can be obtained by contacting any distributor or representative globally authorized or directly with ProTek Devices. These trading resources are available throughout North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and more. Full contact information for all regions is available on the company’s website.
