Rudy Gay and Elijah Hughes Join Jazz Players in Health and Safety Protocols

SALT LAKE CITY – Rudy Gay and Elijah Hughes have joined the list of Utah Jazz players in NBA health and safety protocols amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in the league.

Gay and Hughes were added to the protocols on Sunday, January 9.

The two forwards join Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles as current jazz players listed as ‘OUT’ due to health and safety rules.

Gay last played Jan. 8 against the Indiana Pacers. This season, Gay is averaging 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Hughes last played Jan. 7 against the Toronto Raptors. He missed the Utah game against the Pacers on Jan. 8 due to illness. Hughes recorded 3.0 points. 0.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 10 games this season.

The Jazz are near the end of a five-game road trip that has been plagued by COVID-19 and injuries. Utah went 2-2 in the first four games of the trip.

Utah’s next game is on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Monday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA League Pass and The Zone Sports Network.
