Spider Athletics announces COVID-19 protocols for spring sports

RICHMOND, Virginia – The University of Richmond athletics department is welcoming fans to home events this spring. The safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans remains our top priority so that we can cheer on our Spiders in person this season.

The University of Richmond continues to closely monitor conditions and adjust our COVID-19 protocols as needed to maintain the health and safety of our community. In accordance with national, state, local and university COVID-19 protocols, Richmond Athletics has adopted the following requirements for all athletic venues at the start of the fall athletic season. We ask that you please stay home if you are sick or have symptoms related to COVID-19.


  • all fans are currently required to wear masks INSIDE (including restrooms), regardless of their vaccination status.
  • If you are not vaccinatedyou must wear a mask OUTSIDE in environments where you are not or cannot maintain physical distancing between yourself and others, especially in the Robins Stadium lobbies (near concession areas).
  • If you are fully vaccinatedwearing a mask is not compulsory OUTSIDE, except in the halls of Stade Robins (near the concession areas).
  • To assist you, Spider Athletics will have a limited number of face masks available at all fan entry gates.

The University of Richmond has developed and implemented a physical distancing framework that provides guidelines intended to promote the health of the campus community. COVID Health and Safety

– Please stay home if you are sick or have symptoms related to COVID-19.

Parking and tailgating

– Tailgating is allowed. Please follow the mask guidelines as outlined above.

Robins Stadium Remediation

– All heavily used areas of Robins Stadium should be sanitized frequently by Spider staff.
– Hand sanitizers will be located throughout Robins Stadium for your convenience.

Ticketing and entry protocols

– Gates open 60 minutes before kick-off (for lacrosse matches at Robins Stadium).
– Access to the field is NOT allowed by a fan when entering and exiting your seat location.

Exit Spring sports facilities

– At the end of the game, please do not gather and leave the facility immediately.
– Access to the field is not authorized under any circumstances.
